Just did some playing around. If I don't block my breath with some kind of neurotic pattern (kind of hard to explain), then I breathe about 8 times in a minute. I've been focusing on training this kind of breathing on and off over the years, but have been rather focused on it the last couple of weeks. Basically what I'm do is just intend to breath into my belly, which I've read is the natural way, and not try to control the length of the breath.
Do to our fast paced, neurotic, bad postured society, I'd be willing to bet that 99.9% of people don't breath into their bellies naturally. Heck, either do I, and I practice it.
